Bring it on!

Let the good times roll....

Ahhhh...the freedom of school being out for the summer...

Even though we pack a lot into our summers and we're pretty busy, there's just something about not having to make those school lunches and be out the door by 8:05 am day after day with completed homework in hand. We're def big fans of summer holidays around here!

Thursday, June 27 was the last day this year...

Someone was super pumped when he got home!

Teacher gifts all ready to go...
Max had three different teachers this year. He wrote really nice little thankyou notes to each of them and we tucked them in a gift bag with some Baden Coffee treats and a Timmies GC.

I always love going through his "stuff" at the end of the year. His pencil crayons appear to be in excellent shape. Do not be fooled. That was his second batch...he wore the others down to nothing by March Break. The smelly markers were not functioning anymore...only the scents.  It appears the scissors had a hard year. And a surprise little collection of pencil toppers...hmmm. Not sure what that's about.

His art folder had lots of goodies!! I was impressed with the detail on the folder itself...

Report Cards came home on Monday already. Most important thing to see...promoted to grade 5. Big smiles! :)

A quick comparison to the beginning of the school year...

After Max got home from school we raced over to the farm. Miss Vanessa is graduating from grade 12  this year and prom was that very night. Ohhhhh prom. dee dom. dee dom. Such a big deal! A huge milestone. It's like the prelude to a wedding. I was to meet Zezza at the farm for some quick pics (with her uncooperative 4H calf) before she was heading out to the festivities.

Mr. Wyatt was marching around. Not at all interested in getting his photo taken until I mentioned I would like to take a photo of his root beer....then he was all game.

And he politely offered Max a root beer as well. And then they got all silly doing "cheers" which turned into loud "cheerio's"!

More prom photos to follow. for sure. :)

Wy's birthday

Those lazy, hazy, relaxed summer evenings....

This past Sunday was Wyatt's birthday. We headed over to the Gerber's to celebrate. It was so typical and relaxed...

The adults hung out on the front porch and the kids ran around on the lawn...

Wyatt got a butterfly net from Heather and he was over-the-moon thrilled with that thing...

Taking pictures with this bunch is just an adventure. There is no other way to describe it. Max will pose. Wyatt will not look at the camera (in this case, you can tell he is enamoured of his butterfly net), Sawyer will just be Sawyer and poor Cheyanne was hungry and not wanting to be held by Max...

I think it was a good way to celebrate a 4th birthday...especially when 2 groundhogs were spotted helping themselves to Grandma's all you can eat salad bar (errr...garden). She was not impressed. The groundhogs were not caught. Despite efforts by all males on the premises...Next time....look out groundhogs!

June happenings....

Things have been busy around here. June always is that way....
Ordinary, everyday things...

Someone got a "summer cut"...

This next photo was taken after his last 3 on 3 hockey game at The Zone. Their team won 11-10 (I think?) with the winning goal being scored in the last 4 seconds. Exciting! Max scored 4 goals. I think he was gunning for a hat trick and ended up doing even better. Rumour has it, his helmet had to be adjusted to fit smaller for this game...thanks to his summer haircut! ;)

The stain on our deck took a real beating this past winter so Keith has been working hard at cleaning and removing and prepping the deck for new stain. This wet, cool spring has not been very helpful. Last weekend we finally got it finished...

We used the exact same stain as we had previously. For some reason these last couple of pictures make it look really orange. But it's not...it's a deep reddish brown like the above photos.

While Keith was working hard at the deck, Max and I went strawberry picking. YUM!!!!

We came home and made 3 batches of strawberry freezer jam and froze the rest of the berries whole. :)
