Currently

loving: fresh cut hydrangeas from our backyard. Especially in old blue crown jars... used them as table centerpieces on Sunday for my mama and papa's 40th anniversary dinner at our house.

reading:  The MacDonald Hall Series by Gordon Korman aloud with Max. We both enjoy the humour and laugh a lot together! My personal stash of books waiting to be read include a few by Deanne Gist (light fluff style), Drums of Autumn (#4 in the Outlander Series) and Kisses from Katie.

waiting for: some new little Gerber babies to join my side of the family.
(Jon & Sheila - due in December)

(Chad & Kaitlin - due in January)

excited about: our upcoming camping trip to Prince Edward Island. We leave this afternoon! :)

missing: living near water....big bodies of water. In Kelowna, we had Lake Okanagan. In Vancouver we had the Pacific Ocean. In Thunder Bay we had Lake Superior. All of them were a short drive from our house. Beautiful water views were everywhere. I really miss that.
(Lake Okanagan)

(Deep Cove, North Vancouver - October 2008)

working on: editing photos from a sweet little newborn photoshoot I did last week.

enjoying: little roadside stands that pop up everywhere this time of year. Like this adorable little flower stand. And my parents garlic stand.

trying to: be better. As in...a better wife...mother...daughter...sister...friend...neighbour...

using: my iphone a lot. I love it. How did I live without it?
wearing: lots of summery skirts. This spell of hot and humid weather we've been having is making me very agreeable with skirts! :)
planning: in advance is not really my forte. I should do more of it. Especially meal planning.
singing: something country. Pontoon by Little Big Town. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood. 5-1-5-0 by Dierks Bentley. Somethin' 'Bout a Truck by Kip Moore. Pretty much anything by Eric Church.
needing: to get back on the running bandwagon again. When school is out for the summer, all my routines go haywire. I've neglected running. HORRIBLY. BADLY.

learning: to be content. It's hard.
listening: to thunder. The sky is grey. And dark. I think some rain is on it's way. We need it.
wishing: we wouldn't be missing the London Summer Olympics while we're camping. Hopefully we'll be able to catch the tail end of them when we return home.
doing: my own pedicure before we head out camping. {trying out That's Hot! Pink by OPI} I decided to get my lashes tinted and forgo the pro-pedi this time around. Saving time and money. Max was snap-happy with my iphone while I lay helpless getting the tint. ;)

praying for: wisdom in teaching and raising our little boy. It can be scary, worrisome and overwhelming when I think about how much and what we have to teach him. Such a huge responsibility we have.
dreaming of: reaching my goal weight with Weight Watchers. For once and for all.

Adventures in Baseball

Baseball Season this year seemed....short. Everything was over and done with by July 14th. This year, due to a series of events, Max ended up playing for the Atom Baden Pirates. We travelled....from Kitchener to Tavistock to Ayr to Innerkip. No more "one hour" evenings, twice a week down at the ballpark as in previous years!

Heading out to a game in Innerkip:

Shortstop was the position Max played most often:

Running the bases at the end of the game is a favourite...

The end-of-season tournament was held on Saturday July 14th. Unfortunately it coincided with the end-of-season soccer tournament as well. We went to the soccer tournament in the morning and made it to the last baseball game in the afternoon. The Pirates won their first game that day, but ended up losing the last two games.

Someone looks happy to see the end of tournament day!

Way to go my little Baden Pirate! Baseball was a good challenge for you this year. You stuck with it and developed new skills on field and off. Love you buddy!!

summertime = playdates

Our summer holidays got off to a very busy start with VBS and Uturn Ranch booked in at the very beginning. This week, things have slowed down considerably. Which means we can sleep in a bit past 6:30am... eat breakfast at our leisure.... play with forgotten toys... and book playdates.

Playing cars with Galen:

Cousin Time! Jumping on the tramp with Kyle and Kurtis:

Celebrating Grandpa & Grandma's 40th wedding anniversary: (A last minute change of plans allowed Jon, Sheila, Alex and Tanner to travel down and celebrate with the whole family. Yay!)

Yesterday Isaiah came over for a good portion of the day:

Three cheers for cousins and friends!
Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooraaaaayyyyyyyy!
