Glimpses of the rest of Christmas

On Boxing Day we went to the Steckley Christmas Dinner (Keith's mom's side) at FairHaven School for lunch. In the evening we went to Jesse & Emmalene's for a little visit - they had both sides of their family over for snacks. We didn't stay late. The wind was howling. The snow was blowing.

Dec 27 was Silverstick. We woke up very early. 5:00am early. We headed out for Alliston for Max's Silver Stick Hockey Tournament. The 2 hour roadtrip took us 3 hours (thanks thanks to snowplows, salt trucks, slow drivers, snowy roads) and we arrived at the arena at 8:25. We had five minutes to spare. It's a very good thing we left an hour earlier than planned. And that we used alternate routes to get there.

We stayed at the Nottawasaga Inn. It was a great time!

Oh yes. It was also my birthday. In between the hockey games, I was presented with some beautiful gifts by my boys. They spoiled me. :) A beautiful crystal heart necklace from Max that I'm wearing but you can't see (in the photo above).

A Ben Moss gift bag? Oooooh! That makes my heart jump a stitch! :)

Keith gave me a beautiful topaz necklace. I love it.  And also a gift certificate to get pretty toes at my esthetician. And also a gift certificate for a getaway at the Ben Miller Inn. See...spoiled. ;)

It was a really good birthday. We were so busy with hockey games and dinners with our team and such that I didn't even get a chance to really remember that it was my birthday. Because truthfully, I hate birthdays. I don't like reminders that I'm getting old. ;)  Keith and Max were under strict instructions to pretty please not tell the rest of our hockey team that it was my birthday and so it all worked out really good. It's like it really never happened!   As for the tournament, our boys played three games. They lost. It was tough competition. But they played really well.. each game they kept getting better and better. The last game was so exciting and close - it ended 4-3. We had booked in for two nights at the Nottawasaga, but decided to go home the second night as we weren't moving on in the tournament and with Christmas being so crazy, it was just nice to get home and relax before heading up north to celebrate with Keith's family.

December 30 - January 2: Celebrating Christmas with the Jantzi Family
We rented the ice at the Warren arena on December 31. Lots of fun and great exercise. Most played hockey. A few of us just skated around. I took some pics but I think I had the settings messed up on my camera because they didn't turn out the best. Lots of blurriness. Oh well....we'll just say that shows the fast action that was going on out there!

The annual Christmas couch photo of all the boys...
And that is as many photos as I took. Unfortunately, on New Years Day, didn't I come down with the flu. Horrible, nasty, blazing flu. I quarantined myself in a bedroom until we left for home. Which was the longest 5 hour road trip of my life. Do not recommend travelling when you have the flu.
