Glimpses of Christmas Morning

8:00am December 25, 2012

We were blessed with all sorts of handmade gifts from Max this year. I received that sweet little cardinal ornament above. Keith received a book that Max authored...alot of hard work went into that book at school.

Keith wraps gifts very creatively. Any guesses? Round containers of mints that were wrapped to resemble volcanoes.

LOVE his excited face!

We are all thrilled about his new bike. We never want a repeat of his old bike which caused him so much grief and tears whenever we were out biking together. Hoping this one treats him MUCH better!

Oh yes...He was driving it around the house. Testing out hand brakes for the first time. Cringe! No major crashes thankfully!

A sad little moment...

We lost a little family friend on Christmas Day. Buck. He was our silver dollar fish that had lived in this house longer than we have. He was included (the aquarium) when we purchased our home. On Christmas Eve, Max was extremely upset to discover that Buck wasn't swimming or eating very much...Keith gently explained to him that he was probably dying. We had a very sad little boy. We said a prayer and hoped for the best but knew that he had lived a good long life for a silver dollar fish. Christmas morning, Max came upstairs and wondered what it means if Buck is just floating on the top of the water and not swimming anymore. :( We had discussed earlier that we could have a little burial for him back in the woods. So before we left to celebrate Christmas with the Gerbers, Keith and Max headed out to our woods to find a safe little spot amongst the leaves to bury Buck.  We'll remember him as quite the good little feisty fish - especially the time he got stuck in our big conch shell and we couldn't find him. We finally just thought he had gotten eaten by the other fish. 6 weeks later, he showed up...swimming very weakly but still living. From then on, whenever we couldn't find him, Keith would shake the big shell pretty good and out he would come. Silly Buck!
