January is over with....

My daily planner has a section for each month to jot various notes and scribbles and ramblings and things I'm grateful for....that type of thing. It nicely sums up the month by the time it's over. Worthy of a blog post I think.

In January...

*THE CHIPSTER (epicure) - we tried it out for the first time. Potatoes and apples. It's a hit with all three of us. The trick is....I have to make the chips when the boys aren't around. Otherwise, the minute one batch is done and cooling on the rack, they sneak them and they are gone. ALL gone. This is repeated over and over again. By the time I'm done making all the "chips" there are none left. It feels very futile. ;)

*CHERRIES (from Dutchies) - YUM! We've been enjoying several servings of fresh delicious juicy cherries. I have no clue what country or continent they are shipped in from. But they are worth it.

*DUCK DYNASTY - the show that all three of us are now hooked on. Hysterical!

*KUERIG - Keith and I both have fun using this. Not on a daily basis. But just whenever the mood strikes.

*MASSAGES - Nothing compares to the deep and sound sleep I have after a massage from my RMT. Michele is THE BEST.

*NORTH SHORE NEWS - It's been a couple of years since I've read a North Shore News. In January I got to read three different issues! Ailish surprised me with a copy in the mail. And then Keith was in Vancouver on business and picked up two issues to bring home with him. It seems like a lifetime ago that we lived out there.

*HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY - life revolves around the schedule, basically. It's all good. :) An especially nice treat was when Keith drove Max home from an early morning practice....It was -17 outside so he called and said it's too cold for me to buzz over to get Max...he would drop him off. Sweet. :)

*WEATHER - we've had cold weather (minus whatever!) and we've had warm weather....one afternoon it was a balmy 14 degrees. I had doors and windows open while I cleaned. VERY UNSEASONAL.

*GUACAMOLE (epicure) - I may be slightly addicted.

*FRESH CUT FLOWERS - always a good idea. Thanks Keith! :)

*FORCING BULBS - The amaryllis bulbs are just starting to bloom. Another idea that is just as good as fresh cut flowers.

*LIBRARY - Ordering books on-line from the library. I read about 1/4 of the books I sign out. If I'm bored in the first couple of pages or don't like the theme/tone of the book....I'm done and onto the next book.

*SHUTTERFLY AND LIVINGSOCIAL - January tends to bring the best deals with photo companies. I found some awesome Shutterfly deals through Livingsocial (which I like better than Groupon and Wagjag these days). Calendars and prints and photobooks are beginning to show up on the doorstep!
