Making lists and checking them twice...
While Max was in school a couple of weeks ago, I gathered my wrapping supplies and stash of presents, turned on the Christmas music, sipped my coffee and wapped away to my hearts content. I love the colour red at Christmas. Can you tell?!
On December 11, Vanessa hosted the annual sisters gift exchange. She neglected to tell mom that she had offered to host until about 30 minutes before we arrived. My poor mama. Oh...to be a young 17 year old chickee again! LOL!
I was in such a rush I didn't even think to bring my camera along. So alas no pics from the evening. Max did come along with me since Keith was stuck at work. So it was the girlies and Max. :) Vanessa had my name and she knows me well. This beautiful charcol bracelet has my name written all over it...
On Wednesday, December 12, Tricia came over for the day. And what a fun day. We worked on making Christmas cards. Took a break part way through the day to have a nice lunch at Schmidtsville Restaurant. We were so busy making cards that we never took any photos except for one before we started making our big paper mess...
Haircuts with Christy for all. Check and done.
(This was Max's first experience getting a wash and shampoo in the big sink. He thought it was hysterical and wouldn't stop giggling.)
Max was intrigued with this huge snowman at the front of the Old Navy Store. We dashed in to try and find a plain black shirt for the Christmas choir/play he was in at church. (Found one for $5. What a score. Except that he ended up being sick and missed the actual preformance. Not a score.) The snowman is made of white styrofoam. It was pretty cool!
Friday, December 14th was the annual Wellesley Christmas Parade. A few sad photos from my iphone below:
(Mapleview Mennonite Church's float in the parade)
We went to the parade to meet up with James & Donna who had a Christmas party to go to. We stayed and watched the parade with Kyle, Kurtis and Max and then went back to our house for the rest of the evening for a popcorn and movie night - The Polar Express. Favourite Christmas movie. :)
Saturday, Dec 15 - the three of us went out for dinner at Swiss Chalet (Festive Meal Deal time!) and then a movie.
Unfortunately, all did not remain calm and bright in our house past Saturday evening. Poor Max came down with a splitting headache and fever during the night....which stuck with him until Wednesday. So we became homebodies.... Missed hockey. Missed the Christmas performance at church. Missed school. Missed the strike day holiday from the teachers because he was sick so it didn't make a difference that he got a day off. Fortunately, I was done Christmas shopping the week before so I wasn't panicking about having my little boy sick at home.
