Today....

Today reminds me of a winter day in Vancouver. It's chilly and damp outside with a steady, straight down, nonstop rain. I'm here in my house, doing the weekly cleaning, sipping coffee and baking a batch of banana-chocolate chip muffins. A whole feeling of deja vu came over me when I heard the rain outside my half opened window. For a moment I was transported back into my other world that I lived in a few years back. I would have been doing the exact same thing each week, while listening to the winter rain. Funny how that can happen so randomly and unexpectedly.

Tomorrow is Max's birthday. It will be a big deal of day in this household, as it is every year! This morning before school, we quickly finished the cupcakes he was taking to share with his class. I iced and Max sprinkled.

Somehow, he found extra time to style his hair into a faux hawk this morning. This is how he came downstairs....and immediately assured me that he used only a very little amount of dad's gel. ;)

Last night was "Meet the Teacher" Night. Keith got home just in the knick of time from a business trip to come along with us. One of the big highlights was getting to see Max's locker. :) His teacher seems absolutely wonderful....kind, friendly, outgoing. I can see why Max likes her so much. She had such nice things to say about Max....gave us warm fuzzies and was a proud moment, in a good way! We also got to inspect his desk and he showed us his work he is doing on "habitat's" including a report on beavers. Loved it! Also was interesting to browse through his music folder....I pointed out to him that he's going to find music theory so easy because he's already been learning it in piano. Lightbulb moment for him!

We walked over to Swirls for icecream after meeting his teacher. Anytime is a good time for Swirls...but particularly after a great meeting like that!
