Three days after arriving home from our Lake Manitou camping trip, we were all packed up and on the road again. This time bound for the Parry Sound area to visit our friends Gary & Leanne and family at their cottage on the Magnetawan River. It worked out great...we set up our tent trailer on their property so had our own space to sleep and keep all our stuff. Our weekend was filled with fishing (big surprise there!), quadding adventures, boating, swimming and relaxing on the dock. It was another hot weekend with great weather. :)
Evening view from the dock...
A coolio unique twist on the traditional sandbox....
Showing off "the catch" of the day...
Measuring...
Max took a liking to the paddleboat. I knew he would. He was already asking me (later that evening) how much they cost and if we might buy one. They would be fun I agreed. But hmmmm...should have some water to keep it in at all times. That's a bit of a problem for us. Not sure how enjoyable it would be to haul a paddle boat around with our tent trailer. I think that would get a bit old...:)
Unfortunately when Max woke up on Sunday morning, he was not feeling well. A headache. And a touch of fever. He was not at all his normal happy self. Especially when he fell asleep in the cottage on the couch at 11:00am. With people all over the place. That is not typical. He slept for quite a while. He ate good at breakfast and lunch so it wasn't that his stomach was bothering him. Just his head...
Sunday afternoon, the big boys convinced the big girls to go for a quick quadding rip with them. Matthew looked after the kids at the cottage while we went out and graciously lent me his quadding helmet. Max's was too small for my noggin.
Everyone had their own quad, except me so I tagged on the back of Keith's which was A-OK by me.
What a mud mess. The aim of the game was to drive through big mud holes. Get stuck. And then use the winch to get out either with the other quads or using trees or both. I can see why the guys like it. Watching them, it was like they were 5 year old boys in these "pushing 40" bodies. Getting stuck deep in the mud on purpose and figuring out how they were going to get out of the muck. ICK!! I watched from afar. I wish I would have had my camera with me. Or at least my iphone so I could have taken some movies. Too funny. At the end of our adventure we cleaned off at the "red neck quad wash". A spot in the river where you drive down a steep embankment, roar around in the river and thereby cleaning off the quad, and your muddy self in the process.
Once we got back, it was time to pack up and head home...
Poor Max....feeling better, but still not 100%.
Thankfully about 2 hours into our 4 hour drive home, he started to perk up and seemed to be over it just like that. We knew he was feeling better for sure when all of a sudden we heard him announce from the back seat..."Let's play the alphabet game..."
Another great camping weekend for sure. Gary & Leanne have told us all about their cottage so it was nice to be able to see it in real life. They have a great spot that is just perfect for them and suits them to a tee!
